About our courses

You can start any Monday if you already have some knowledge of Spanish.

Only absolute beginners need to start their lessons on the specified dates.

Registration is €40 and is paid each time new course weeks are purchased, regardless of the number of weeks you buy, it will always be €40. This registration covers the costs of registration, materials, placement test, social activities on offer, registration, and end-of-course diploma. To prevent yourself from paying the registration fee again and to benefit from lower prices, you may purchase a larger number of weeks at the beginning and take them anytime within a year. As an alternative, you may pay a non-refundable 100€ reservation deposit before you finish the previous course so you will not be asked to pay the registration fee in your next course. This deposit expires in one year from its payment.

Cancellations must be communicated as soon as possible.
If the cancellation is made 21 days before the start of the course, there will be a penalty of 100€.
If cancellation is made 20 days or less before the start of the course, there will be no refund.
Courses are not transferable to another person.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Private flats in town or on the beach: 25% of the value of the accommodation must be paid to make the booking. This amount is non-refundable in case of cancellation. The remaining amount must be paid before the date of arrival. Once the accommodation has started, no refunds will be granted.

Student visas: Students requiring visas are subject to special cancellation conditions:
- The course must be paid in full in advance in order to issue the letter of invitation required for acceptance at the consulate.
- Visa dates must coincide with course dates. The student will be allowed one week off for every 10 weeks of the course. These dates cannot be changed, refunded or transferred to another person once the invitation letter has been issued by the school.
- Attendance at the course is compulsory. In case of illness, a medical report must be provided to justify the absence. Classes not attended cannot be made up.
- There will be no refunds of any kind, except in the unlikely event that the visa is refused, as long as the student presents documentation accrediting the refusal of the visa. In such a case, TLCdénia will refund the cost of the course, except for 4% of the total cost of the course with a minimum of 100 €.
Flight delays or cancellations: There will be no refund in case of delays or cancellations of the student's flights. Airlines must provide alternative flights and compensate for the costs incurred by the delay, including bookings not taken up due to the delay or cancellation.
Student illness: There will be no refund in the event that the student is ill during the course and has to stay at home. TLCdénia reserves the right to offer the student a similar course on other dates for a period of one year after the illness in order to make up the classes missed as long as a doctor's certificate is provided (also necessary for COVID cases).

Modifications
The student may change the type of course or the date of the course within the same year at no additional cost. Changes made less than 15 days before the start of the course will be subject to a surcharge of 30€. Changes are not accepted for bookings on student visas. Children's programmes Option A and Option B cannot be changed less than 7 days before the start of the course. No changes to the dates of the "Teenager Summer Programme 14-17 years" will be accepted less than 21 days before the start of the course.

- Bookings for individual sessions need to be made and paid in advance.
- Cancellations must give at least 24 hours’ notice by e-mail to the admin staff, not to the teacher. In case of cancellations made during the weekends for lessons scheduled on a Monday, please contact our main e-mail: info@tlcdenia.es
- Failure to provide sufficient notice or failure to attend will result in the lesson fee still being applicable in full.
- Students who arrive late will only receive a lesson for the remainder of their allocated time slot. We advise students to arrive 5-10 minutes early.

We offer different course programmes of 20, 25 or 30 lessons per week. Each lesson is 45 minutes long.

How many weeks does it take to complete a level?

The number of hours and therefore weeks varies according to the level studied, with A1 level being the shortest and C2 level the longest:

  • Beginner A1: 4 weeks
  • Elemental A2: 6 weeks
  • Intermediate B1: 10 weeks
  • Upper-Intermediate B2: 12 weeks
  • Advanced C1: 14 weeks
  • Proficiency C2: 16 weeks

The class timetable is divided into three possible blocks but the school cannot guarantee you classes at a specific time. This depends on several variables such as the courses that are already in place at that time, the number of students, the level, type of course etc.

The timetable will be available the week before the start of the course. Summer courses option A and B for children have a set time: 9:30a.m to 2.p.m. Private lessons in the ‘20+’5 programme will most likely take place after the group class. The table below shows typical schedules but please remember that they are subject to change.

Courses are scheduled into either morning or afternoon blocks, but the school cannot guarantee placement in one session or the other.

You can however, specify your preference on your application form and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.

We offer private one-to-one evening classes but not group ones.

We offer DELE exam preparation for all DELE exams.

Yes, it is.

Your teacher will provide you with free course material and you will be loaned a course book.

If students are interested in buying the book, copies are available to purchase for just 20€.

The maximum number of students per class is 12, but the average is 6.

During the winter months, groups are usually smaller than in summer time.

Yes, students with some knowledge of Spanish will be asked to take an online test to determine their Spanish level.

When a student does not take the test, the school cannot guarantee the right placement.

The test results are not usually shown to the student but we will be happy to provide them upon request.
Please note that our test is for our internal use only and will not certify your exact level since it does not cover every aspect. If needed, the Director of Studies may engage the students in a small conversation on the first day of the course in order to evaluate their oral skills.

Adult groups are between 3-12 students.

If a particular level has less than 3 students then the number of lessons will be reduced. (For example: 3-12 students = 4 lessons, 2 students = 3 lessons, 1 student = 2 lessons).

Please be aware that a reduction in the number of lessons does not mean a delay in a student’s progress.

The same topics will be covered regardless of the course duration, as smaller groups allow for more content to be covered in less time.

All our students receive a Certificate of Attendance that specifies the level and the contents covered upon completion of the course.

Please, note this is not an official certificate.

Yes, our long-term courses are recognized by the CSN.

Yes.

If you feel the class you are taking is not the right level, or that your learning progress differs from that of your classmates’, then you can speak to the Director of Studies to change your class to the appropriate level, or to discuss other options.

Please be advised that no refund will be given if you change to a less expensive course.

TLCdénia is here to accommodate your needs and to ensure that you have the best possible experience.

Group classes that are missed due to public holidays will be mostly made up during the week. Only one-to-one classes are totally made up.

The school calendar is available on our website under the section ‘Dates and Schedule’.
