One of our excursions for school groups is a trip to village of Castell de Guadalest. It is located on top of an impressive cliff, and with its rich history, beautiful panoramic views, and medieval charm, it captivates visitors from the moment they arrive.
The main attraction of Castell de Guadalest is its castle, which dates back to the 11th century and stands majestically on top of the hill. This imposing fortified castle offers a fascinating glimpse into life in the Middle Ages and provides visitors with the opportunity to explore its ancient walls, towers, and intriguing halls. From the top of the fortress, one can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the valley, the Guadalest reservoir, and the surrounding mountains.
The village itself, located at the base of the castle, is a labyrinth of cobbled streets and traditional stone houses. Strolling through the narrow streets will transport students back in time, with local craft shops, museums, and small restaurants. There, they can sample local products such as honey, cured meats, and handmade sweets if they wish.
One of Guadalest’s most notable attractions is the Guadalest reservoir, an artificial lake surrounded by mountains that offers stunning scenery and outdoor activities.
During the excursion to Guadalest, students will enjoy the beautiful village, its castle, and also visit the Casa Orduña. The Orduña Family House, now converted into a Municipal Museum, invites you to explore the home of a prominent 17th-century family in Castell de Guadalest. The Orduñas, who were trusted individuals of the Marquises of Guadalest, held important roles as governors and wardens on their behalf.
In this house, you will find interesting original furniture, the library, and intriguing paintings on its walls, while the rest of the house houses revered religious images in Castell de Guadalest, as well as valuable ceramic collections.
During the visit to the village in the summer, students spend some time cooling off in the local swimming pool.
